The UW-River Falls track and field teams will send a select group of athletes to the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open on Friday, May 8, at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse. The meet offers another late-season opportunity for Falcons to continue building as the outdoor season progresses. 

Leading the Falcon competitors is reigning WIAC Outdoor Decathlon champion Jacob Balcome, who is scheduled to compete in both the pole vault and long jump this Friday. Balcome enters weekend competition piggy-backing off his second consecutive conference decathlon title while posting the second-highest point total in WIAC Outdoor Championship history.

Yaih Marial will represent the Falcons in the high jump this weekend. Marial has been a consistent scorer for River Falls throughout the outdoor season. 

In the middle-distance events, Tyler Parker is slated to compete in the 800-meter run. Parker recently moved into the top-three in program history in the event following a pair of personal-best performances (1:52.54, 1:52.68) at the WIAC Outdoor Championships.

The Falcons will also bring a strong group of throwers to La Crosse, including Lauryn Schutz, Ali Clifford, Alexis Koch, and Maleah Petersen. Clifford and Koch scored for the Falcons at the WIAC Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw, along with Clifford scoring in the shot put. Petersen is coming off a personal-record discus throw at the WIAC Championships (43.50). 

Annika Gunderson wraps up Falcon athletes competing and will compete in the pole vault after another consistent season in the event for the Falcons.

Competition begins Friday at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex with athletes from across the region set to compete at one of the final regular season meets before NCAA post-season competition begins.
