LA CROSSE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's and women's track & field teams finished up the 2022 WIAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday afternoon on the campus of UW-La Crosse. The men took eighth with a total of 13 points and the women finished seventh with 52 points.
Dylan Wachter led the Falcon men, playing a part in 12 of UWRF's 13 team points. He contributed eight points as the runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.62, and helped combine for four Falcon points a member of the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams.
The UWRF men's 4x100m relay squad of
Trey Hovde,
Eli Dodge,
Trever Jensen, and Wachter finished eighth with a season-best time of 42.87.
In the men's 4x400,
Matt Boche, Wachter,
Kyle McCullough, and Jensen also set a season-best time at 3:24.01, taking sixth place to earn three team points.
Caleb Venzke collected the sole men's team point from Friday's events, finishing eighth with a 160 feet javelin throw.
The UWRF women totaled 20 points during day one on Friday after
Lexi LeFever won the long jump and the pole vaulting duo of
Kimi Robertson and
Kalli Jo Klocke placed third and fifth. On Saturday, LeFever took fourth in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes to add 10 more points individually, while Robertson took third place for nine team points in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 14.65.
Women's relay teams totaled 10 points, taking fourth in both the 4x100 and 4x400 with season-best times for both.
Sarah Hansen, LeFever, Robertson, and
Sarah Langlois clocked a 4x100m time of 48.68, and the 4x400m crew of
Sammy Braunlich,
Megan Halbach,
Cailyn Kuechle, and
Izzi Mason wrapped up the day with a time of 4:01.51, surpassing UWRF's season-best time by nine seconds.
Maria Laudenbach added another six points for the Falcon women with a 5,000-meter run time of 18:22.29, good for third place.
The women's 52 team points is UWRF's most at the WIAC Outdoor Championships since 2013.
