INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - NCAA member schools have nominated 577 female college athletes for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, including recent graduate and Falcon women's hockey player
Callie Hoff as the nominee for UW-River Falls.
Rooted in Title IX, the NCAA is celebrating the Woman of the Year Award for the 32nd year and was established in 1991 to recognize graduating female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
A native of Hermantown, Minn., Hoff graduated this spring with a 3.76 cumulative GPA as an Elementary Education major. She finished her career in 2022 earning WIAC Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, was named the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Player of the Year, and received CCM/AHCA First Team All-America and CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades.
Throughout her five seasons at UWRF, Hoff guided the Falcons to four WIAC regular season and three WIAC tournament championships, including three NCAA Tournament appearances. While skating in 120 career games, Hoff is the UWRF women's hockey all-time leading scorer with 197 career points with 97 goals and 100 assists.
The 2021-22 Falcon Awards Female Athlete of the Year, Hoff is a two-time All-American, five-time All-WIAC honoree, four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member and four-time AHCA All-American Scholar.
The nominees represent all three NCAA divisions, including 248 nominees from Division I, 127 from Division II and 202 from Division III. The average GPA of this year's nominee pool is 3.8, and includes 125 multisport student-athletes, including 78 two-sport student-athletes, 46 three-sport student-athletes and 1 four-sport student-athlete.
Conference offices will select nominees, which will be announced later this month. Then, the Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division.
From the Top 30, the Woman of the Year selection committee will determine the top three honorees in each division and announce nine finalists. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then will choose the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year.
