Falcon sweep Pipers on the road

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team defeated Hamline University 3-0 Wednesday evening to improve its overall record to 14-5 on the season.

UWRF compiled a .200 hitting percentage while sweeping the Pipers by scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-22.

The Falcons totaled double-digit kill totals in each set, accumulating 38 compared to Hamline's 24. 

In the first set, the Falcons jumped out to a 7-1 lead and didn't look back, cruising through set one while leading by as many as 11, taking a 1-0 lead. UWRF then hit over 30 percent in the middle frame to take a 2-0 lead.

Hamline had som push back in the third set, forcing eight Falcon errors while establishing a few leads, but after UWRF tied the match at 21-21 they closed out the set on a 4-1 run, including back-to-back kills Sami Hilley and Kameri Meredith to clinch the win.

Meredith led the Falcons with 13 kills, followed by nine kills an an impressive .563 hitting percentage from Hilley. Brooke Voigt led the defense with 19 digs and Grace Boles tallied a game-high 22 assists.

UWRF hosts No. 9-ranked UW-Whitewater this Friday, Sept. 30 during Falcon Fight Night - Breast Cancer Awareness.
