RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team earned a 5-1 non-conference victory over the College of St. Scholastica Tuesday evening at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons improve to 12-2 overall with their fourth consecutive win and second 5-1 win over the Saints this season, previously defeating CSS Nov. 15 in Duluth, Minn.
After St. Scholastica opened the scoring at 10:29 of the first period, the Falcons scored five unanswered goals for the win, including two on the power play for the second game in a row.
It took UWRF under a minute to tie the game after CSS took a 1-0 lead, with
Bailey Olson scoring at 11:24.
Abigail Stow followed with her first of two on the night minutes later, scoring on the power play to give UWRF a 2-1 lead after the first period.
In the final two frames, the Falcons out-shot the Saints 27-10 while adding three more goals. Stow scored early into the second before a
Megan Goodreau power play goal.
MaKenna Aure finished the scoring in the third.
Alex Hantge finshed with a career-high four assists.
Sami Miller made her 10th start in net and totaled 18 saves to earn the win, improving her record to 9-1.
