Falcons drop road test at Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 54-49 at UW-Stevens Point Wednesday evening.

UWRF dips to 11-5 overall and 1-4 in the WIAC.

The Falcons struggled to find a shooting stride, shooting a season-low 14-of-53 from the field and 5-of-21 from beyond the arc.

Macy Nilsen led UWRF with 22 points, featuring a career-high 12 made free throws. Kameri Meredith followed with nine points while Cassie Heinrichs totaled a team-high seven rebounds.

After the Falcons took a 13-7 lead in the first quarter, UWSP answered outscoring UWRF 13-8 in the second quarter to trail the Falcons 21-20 at the half.

The Pointers shot over 40 percent in the second half as the lead swapped a few times heading into the fourth with UWSP leading 37-34. The home team opened the final period on a five-minute 12-3 run to lead by 12, enough insurance to seal the win.

UWRF returns to Page Arena on Saturday to host UW-Platteville.
