No. 2 Falcons rout Yellowjackets 12-1

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey opened its WIAC series versus UW-Superior with a 12-1 win over the Yellowjackets Thursday night at Hunt Arena.

The Falcons, now 15-2 overall and 6-0 in the WIAC, recorded season-highs in points goals scored, power play goals (4), points (33), and assists (21). Senior forward Maddie McCollins led the Falcons with a career-high six points off two goals and four assists. 

Nine Falcons had multi-point performances while UWRF out-shot UWS 64-13.

After a 3-0 lead through the first period, holding the Yellowjackets to just three shots on goal, the UWRF offense broke open four nine goals in the final 40 minutes. McCollins, Alex Hantge, Abigail Stow, and Megan Goodreau each had two goals.

Sami Miller started in net and earned the win with three saves. She played the first 21 minutes before being relieved by Jordan O'Kane, who tallied nine saves.\

The Falcons head to Superior on Saturday for game two versus the Yellowjackets.
