RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team fell 65-54 to UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon at Page Arena.
Three Warhawk starters scored double figures while
Macy Nilsen and
Cassie Heinrichs led the Falcons with 11 points each. UWW held a 34-32 edge in rebounds and shot 49 percent from the field compared to UWRF's 32.1.
Whitewater led 15-8 after the first quarter before the home team started to gain momentum late in the first half, coming within one paint of UWW at 20-19 after a Heinrichs triple and a free throw from
Jocelyn Plonski with under five minutes left. The Warhawks regained an eight-point advantage before another Heinrichs three-pointer at the buzzer to trim the visitors' lead to 32-27 at the half.
UWRF earned its first lead of the day with a Nilsen three-pointer at the 6:38 mark of the third quarter, leading 39-37. Whitewater quickly regained an advantage however and led for the rest of regulation.
Olivia Miron and
Kameri Meredith shared the UWRF lead in rebounds with five each.
