RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team opened its weekend series versus Northland College with a 9-0 win over the Lumberjills.
UWRF, now 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the WIAC, held the Lumberjills to 11 shots on goal while tallying 52 to earn its ninth consecutive win.
Maddie McCollins recorded her second hat-trick of the season while
Abigail Stow,
Ellie Brice,
MaKenna Aure, and
Braelyn Sathers all recorded multi-point games.
The Falcons opened the scoring with a Stow shorthanded goal just under three minutes in, and buried five more first period goals, including two on the power play, to lead 6-0 after 20 minutes.
For good measure, the home team added three more goals in the middle frame to finish with the 9-0 result.
Jordan O'Connor collected 11 saves for her third shutout of the season.
The Falcons go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 p.m. from Hunt Arena.
