MOORHEAD, Minn. – The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated Concordia College 9-2 Saturday afternoon to earn a non-conference series sweep over the Cobbers.
Ellie Brice and
Maddie McCollins each had two goals while
Bailey Olson and
Megan Goodreau both had three assists, guiding the Falcons to their highest scoring game of the season.
The first period featured five goals while both teams scored on its first shot on net. Goals from
Madison Lavergne,
Aubrey Nelvin, and McCollins gave UWRF a 3-2 lead at the first intermission.
UWRF proceeded to score six goals in the second period to put the game out of reach, outshooting the Cobbers 30-0 in the middle frame. The Falcons allowed just one Concordia shot on goal in the third period, and finished the game with a 68-11 lead in shots on net.
Six Falcons finished with multi-point efforts.
Jordan O'Kane made nine saves in her second start of the season, improving her record to 2-0.
UWRF, now 11-2 overall, returns to Hunt Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 10, hosting St. Scholastica.
