MENOMONIE, Wis. - The No. 7-ranked UW-River Falls football team earned a 49-35 road win at UW-Stout Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the WIAC, were led by quarterback
Kaleb Blaha's 535 yards of total offense and a program-record six rushing touchdowns, which also ties a WIAC record.
Blaha finished with 234 passing yards and a career-high 301 rushing yards while accounting for all of UWRF's touchdowns. Outside of his school record scoring total, he added a 28-yard touchdown pass to
Jake Hilton, and had 40-yard and 65-yard touchdown runs.
The Falcons and Blue Devils were in a shootout for most of the game until UWRF ran away at the end. The two teams traded scores through the third quarter, leading to tied scores after the first and second quarters.
Tied 21-21 at halftime, Blaha's third rushing score of the day opened the second-half scoring, which was answered by the Blue Devils to knot the score at 28-28. Blaha responded with back-to-back rushing scores to put the Falcons up 42-28, which proved to be enough cushion for victory.
UWRF compiled a season-high 357 yards rushing, leading to 591 yards of total offense compared to 396 from the Blue Devils.
Defensively,
Aaron Borgerding led the Falcons with nine tackles along with an interception.
Carson Steen had a pair of tackles for loss including one sack.
