MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team earned their second win of the season defeating Augsburg University 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Augsburg struck first scoring on their first powerplay opportunity of the day at 13:58.
Holly Eckers tied it up 1-1 scoring on the power play opportunity at 18:48 in the first period. The game stayed tied all the way till the final minute of the second period when
Alex Hantge found the back of the net. The goal would end up being the game winning goal of the night.
The Falcons scored again the third period when
Megan Goodreau took a pass from
Maddie McCollins and
MaKenna Aure.
The Falcons outshot Augsburg 34-24 and won 39 of 58 faceoffs.
Maddie McCollins and
MaKenna Aure each had two assists.
Senior goaltender
Jordan O'Connor saw her second start of the season in net and collected 23 saves for the win.
The Falcons were 3-for-7 on the power play and the Auggies were 1-for-5.
UWRF (2-0, 0-0 WIAC) travels to St. Cloud to face the College of Saint Benedict on Thursday November 2.
