PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's volleyball team defeated UW-Platteville in a thrilling five set match. With the win the Falcons advance to the semifinal round of the WIAC Tournament.
Platteville took the first match winning 25-14 and forcing the Falcons to double digit hitting errors. The Falcons bounced back it set two and three winning 25-19 and 25-23. The Pioneers forced a game five winning set four 25-20.
The fifth set played out as a back-and-forth battle with the game tying up ten times. Back-to-back kills by
Sami Hilley and an attack error by the Pioneers gave the Falcons the 15-12 win.
The Falcons just narrowly outhit the Pioneers .174 to .173 and collected 55 kills versus the Platteville's 54.
Leading the Falcon offense was
Lauren Noth with 17 kills.
Kameri Meredith had 13 kills while adding 19 digs for the double double. Defensively
Brenna Olson had 25 digs and
Katelyn Nichols had six blocks.
The Falcons will face UW-Whitewater in the semifinal round on Thursday November 9. Match time is set for 7 pm.
