RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team swept Lawrence University with a 4-2 win Friday night at Hunt Arena.
Sam Anzai scored the Falcons lone first period goal two minutes in. Assisting him on the play was
Dylan Smith and
Josh Martin.
The Falcons scored two goals in the second period.
Brock Weimer took a pass from
Max Collette who won the puck in the faceoff.
Alex Davis followed it up at 15:09 with the Falcons third goal.
Lawrence scored a power play goal at the end of the second period after
Valentino Passarelli was called for roughing. The Vikings scored a second goal in the third to get within one goal of the Falcons.
The Falcons solidified the win with
Noah Roofe's goal at 11:27 in the third.
The Falcons outshot the Vikings 36-22.
Arsenii Smekhnov led the team with seven shots on goal and
Max Collette and
Brock Weimer each had two points.
Dysen Skinner collected his third win of the season collecting 20 saves.
The Falcons improve to 8-5 on the season with the nonconference win. They will be off till January 5 when they travel to Augsburg University.
