MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) released its Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 11-17, 2023, with Madison Lavergne representing UW-River Falls as the Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week.

A sophomore forward from Warrorad, Minn., Lavergne scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period to lead the top-ranked Falcons to a 3-2 win over No. 2-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday, Dec. 13 in Saint Peter, Minn. The win marked the second in as many weeks over the Gusties, and Lavergne's second of the season.

Lavergne's honor is the first conference award of her career, and marks UWRF's fifth WIAC weekly award this season, following Alex Hantge (Dec. 4-10), Jordan O'Connor (Oct. 30-Nov. 5) and Maddie McCollins (Nov. 13-19 and Nov. 27-Dec. 3).

No. 1-ranked UWRF (12-0, 3-0 WIAC) opens the 2024 calendar year hosting Concordia College Jan. 5-6.
