DULUTH, Minn. - The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team shut out the College of St. Scholastica 5-0 Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons, now 11-0 overall, were led by two goals apiece from
Maddie McCollins and
Courtney Jacobs en route to their second shutout of the week, also defeating top-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College 2-0 on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Along with McCollins and Jacobs' efforts, sophomore goaltender
Jordan O'Kane made her second start of the season in net and tallied 15 saves to collect her first shutout of the season and the second of her career.
UWRF outshot the Saints 46-15 and turned aside four CSS power play chances.Â
Jacobs got the scoring started five minutes into the game, which stood as the eventual game-winner.
MaKenna Aure and McCollins also scored in the first to give UWRF a 3-0 lead, both scoring unassisted including a shorthanded goal for McCollins. After a scoreless middle frame, Jacobs and McCollins scored their second goals of the game in the third period to extend the lead.
Allisen Carothers led the Falcons with two assists, including one on Jacobs' game-winner.
Up next, the Falcons meet the defending National Champions from Gustavus again next Wednesday, Dec. 13 in Saint Peter, Minn.
