SUPERIOR, Wis. – The top-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team routed UW-Superior 12-1 Saturday night to earn the series sweep over the Yellowjackets.
UWRF also defeated UWS 12-1 on Jan. 19 and 9-0 on Jan. 21, collecting the season series sweep. The Falcons' win streak extends to 12 games while their record improves to 20-2 overall and 10-0 during conference play.
The Falcons scored six in the first period before adding a trio in each of the final two periods.
Madison Lavergne led the way with her first career hat-trick, and
Abigail Stow,
Megan Goodreau, and
Maddie McCollins each had two goals apiece.
UWRF went 3-for-7 on the power play and turned away a pair of Yellowjacket power plays. The Falcons also led 62-10 in shots on goal.
Jordan O'Connor and
Jordan O'Kane each spent time in net, combining for nine saves. O'Connor made the start and received the win, improving her record to 5-1 on the season.
UWRF returns home to host a non-conference game against the College of Saint Benedict on Tuesday, Feb. 7. In celebration of the 50th Anniversary ot Title IX and National Girls & Women in Sports, UWRF will be selling $10 pink Falcon beanies, admitting free admission for youth ages 18 & under, and hosting a post-game team poster signing.
