Falcons keep playoff hopes alive, defeating Pointers 64-53

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's basketball team defeated UW-Stevens Point 64-53 Wednesday evening at Page Arena.

The Falcons improve to 14-9 overall and 4-8 in the WIAC, securing the sixth spot in the league standings for the time being.

UWRF shot just under 40 percent from the field and were led by a collective scoring effort. Four Falcon starters scored in double figures, led by 11 each from Julia Seidel, Macy Nilsen, and Kameri Meredith. Olivia Miron added 10 and shared the team rebound lead with Nilsen, tallying seven each.

The Falcons got off to a great start, shooting 10-of-15 from the field in the first 10 minutes to score 26 points. Despite being held to eight points in the second quarter, UWRF led 34-23 at halftime.

UWRF held UWSP to under 40 percent shooting in the second half and maintained its lead for the win. A Meredith triple with 3:50 left in the third quarter gave the Falcons an 18-point lead, their largest of the game.

Up next, the Falcons head to UW-Platteville on Saturday.
