MADISON, Wis. - UW-River Falls senior goaltender
Sami Miller was named the 2022-23 recipient of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Hockey Scholar-Athlete Award.
Miller becomes the fifth Falcon in UWRF women's hockey history to earn the honor, following in the footsteps of
Emily Stark (2017),
Amy Auran (2018),
Haley Nielsen (2019), and
Sophia Leong (2022).
A native of Blaine, Minn., Miller has maintained a 3.56 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major with a minor in early childhood, and is a four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member and two-time AHCA All-American Scholar. In addition, she's been a member of the athletic mentor program and has served as a substitute teacher.
On the ice, Miller is a three-time All-WIAC honoree, a 2022 AHCA Second Team All-American, and is UWRF's all-time shutouts leader with 17. In 85 career games played, she owns a 58-12-3 record with a 0.925 save percentage and a 1.53 goals against average.
To be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years. The award is based on academic achievements, athletics accomplishments and involvement in other campus activities, organizations, and community service projects.
