RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team fell 2-1 in a nonconference matchup against Gustavus Adolphus College Sunday afternoon at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
The visiting Golden Gusties took a two goal lead at the 69th minute before a late rally from the Falcons that came up short.
In the first half, Gustavus held a 4-3 shot advantage while both teams had one corner kick. GAC led 1-0 at the half after opening the game's scoring at the 28th minute.
A competitive second half led to a combined 16 shot attempts and eight corner kicks. Near the midway point of the second stanza, the visitors earned a two-goal advantage with the eventual game-winner.
Pushing late to get on the board, the Falcons scored on a header from
Ellie Ketcher, assisted by
Lauren Best. Ketcher led the Falcons with three of the team's five shots on target.
Grace Zellmer made the start in goal and totaled eight saves on 14 shots faced.
The Falcons, now 2-1-1 overall, remain at home to face UW-Superior this Tuesday, Sept. 12.
