RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated UW-Stevens Point 4-0 Friday afternoon in the first of the two-game weekend WIAC series at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons' program record win streak improves to 16 games with their 16-0 overall record and now 4-0 WIAC ledger.
After a scoreless first period, UWRF scored twice in each the second and third periods, highlighted by a hat-trick from
Maddie McCollins, her second this season and the fourth of her career.
McCollins scored twice in the middle frame, including a power play tally, before
Madison Kadrlik scored early in the third to extend the Falcon lead to 3-0, which was followed by McCollins' third to compete the hat-trick.
UWRF outshot UWSPÂ 60-12 and won 46 of 57 faceoffs.
Megan Goodreau and
MaKenna Aure finished the game with two assists each, while
Jordan O'Connor collected 12 saves in net to earn the win, improving her record to 12-0 with her fourth shutout of the season.
The Falcons go for the series sweep against the Pointers tomorrow at 2:05 p.m.
