SUPERIOR, Wis. - The No. 1-ranked UWRF Women's Hockey team remained undefeated with a 4-1 WIAC win at UW-Superior Thursday evening.
UWRF's program record win streak improves to 18 games while the Falcons improve to 18-0 overall and 6-0 during league action.
After the Yellowjackts held the Falcons scoreless through the first two periods and took a 1-0 lead late in the second period, UWRF scored four unanswered goals in the third period to earn the win.
Bailey Olson broke the UWS shutout just over four minutes into the third period, which was followed by a pair of Falcon goals just 33 seconds apart by
Maddie McCollins and
Allisen Carothers to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead. McCollins scored again for good measure late in regulation.
UWRF went 0-for-3 on the power play and was successful on a pair of penalty kills, outshooting the Yellowjackets 41-17.
Jordan O'Connor made 16 saves en route to collecting her 13th win on the season.
The Falcons host the Yellowjackets on 2:05Â p.m. this Saturday at Hunt Arena.
