ASHLAND, Wis. - The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team opened its weekend WIAC road series with an 8-1 win Friday night at Northland College.
The Falcons' program record win streak improves to 20 games with their 20-0 overall record and 8-0 conference ledger.
UWRF outshot Northland 58-9 and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
Ellie Brice led the Falcons with two goals while
Bailey Olson had four points with a goal and three assists.Â
In the first period, Olson opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the game.
Maddie McCollins and
Megan Goodreau followed to give UWRF a 3-0 lead after the first period.Â
The Falcons and Lumberjills traded goals in the second period before the Falcons added four more for good measure in the third period.Â
Alex Hantge and Goodreau each had two assists while McCollins had a season-high 11 shots on goal. In net,
Jordan O'Kane made eight saves to earn her sixth win of the season.
UWRF goes for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon.
