RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team bounced back from a Friday night tie to dominate UW-Superior in a 5-1 win Saturday night at Hunt Arena.
Dylan Smith was just shy of a hattrick scoring two goals. His first came at the end of the first period and he followed it up with a third period power play goal.
Jonny Meiers got the Falcons on the board first with a power play goal at 7:33 in the first period.
Owen Belisle scored a lone second period goal early on to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead going into the third period.
Burke Simpson scored the fifth and final goal of the night at 8:04 in the third.
The Yellowjackets lone goal came in the second period.
Dysen Skinner collected his fifth win of the season stopping twenty Superior shots.
The Falcons outshot the Yellowjackets 25-21. They capitalized on the power play opportunities scoring on two of the five chances. The Falcon defense stayed strong on the penalty kill not allowing a goal to score in the seven chances.
The Falcons travel to UW-Eau Claire to face off against the Blugolds next weekend.
