LA CROSSE, Wis. — The UW-River Falls women's soccer team lost its road match at UW-La Crosse, 5-0, on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The loss dropped UWRF's record on the season to 7-6-2 on the year and 2-3 in WIAC play.
In the first half, UW-La Crosse capitalized off 21 shots to find the back of the net twice in the first 45 minutes. In the 14th minute, Chelsea Gale scored an unassisted goal to put the Eagles up 1-0. Late in the 39th minute, Lucy Quidzinski scored off an assist by Sophie Pope that put UW-La Crosse up 2-0 heading into halftime.
The second half saw UW-La Crosse add on three more goals. In the 61st minute, Katelyn Studebaker scored off an assist from Megan McNeely to extend the advantage to 3-0. Within a span of just over a minute late in the half, the Eagles added goals in the 74th and 75th minutes. UW-La Crosse's 5-0 lead held through the final whistle.
In goal, Grace Zellmer recorded 13 saves. Elizabeth Felty and Mariah Martin led the Falcons with one shot each.
Up next, the Falcons are set to close out the regular season with four straight home matches. UWRF will host Carleton at 3 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
