COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — The UW-River Falls men's soccer team lost its match at Saint Johns on Oct. 21 by a score of 4-1.

The Falcons added a goal in the second half of the match, but were out shot 21-9 in the loss. The defeat dropped UWRF's record on the season to 6-8.

In the first half, the Falcons managed three shots and drew seven fouls, but ultimately Saint John's was able to notch two goals, one in the first four minutes of the half and one in the last four minutes of the half.

In the fourth minute, Andrew Pitzner scored off assists from Christian Rodriguez and Ronan O'Connor. The Johnnies totaled eight shots on goal in the first half and added their second goal of the game in the 43rd minute when Matt Holmes scored unassisted. UWRF went into halftime trailing 2-0.

After the Johnnies added another goal in the 60th minute to go up 3-0, UWRF's Landon Christiansen got the Falcons on the board with his 10th goal of the season. Christiansen weaved his way through a pack of Saint John's midfielders, before launching a strike from just outside the top of the box that landed perfectly on the far right side to trim the deficit to 3-1.

Despite an increase in shots and chances in the second half, UW-River Falls was unable to claw back any further. Saint John's added a goal by Connor Drong in the 81st minute that put the Johnnies back up by three goals late in the match. The advantage would hold through the final whistle, as Saint John's was victorious 4-1.

Christiansen led the Falcons with six shots and two shots on goal, while Charlie Theis recorded two shots and one shot on goal. In goal, TJ Whisenhunt recorded seven saves.

Up next, the Falcons return to River Falls to host UW-Stout at Ramer Soccer Stadium on Oct. 27. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.
