NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The UW-River Falls cross country program continued its season this weekend at the Carleton Running of the Cows, placing in the top 12 in both the men's and women's team standings.

The race, which took place at the Bill Huyck Championship Course in Northfield, Minn., included 22 total teams. UWRF scored 248 points on the women's side to place ninth, while the men's team placed 12th with 322 team points. The Falcons saw a majority of its runners set season and personal-best times at the 2024 Carleton Running of the Cows, including 10 out of the 14 runners that competed for the women's team.

In the women's 6k, sophomore Laina Viere led the way for the Falcons, clocking in at a season-best time of 23:29.70 to place 29th. Freshman Adison Wilde followed up close behind, placing 33rd with a personal-best time of 23:33.10.

Peyton Opsahl (24:07.00/60th), Jaidyn McAlpine (24:31.20/75th), and Emma Karnitz (24:40.30/77th) each set personal bests this weekend and contributed toward UWRF's top-10 team finish. Issabella Jeurissen (24:55.50/87th) and Amber Lawrence (25:48.00/139th) rounded out UWRF's points scorers, both setting new personal records.

Logan Munson led the way for UWRF in the men's 8k, placing 41st with a time of 26:17.8, a season-best time. Wyatt Johnson was UWRF's next finisher, clocking in with a personal-best time of 27:06.5 to place 85th.

Jack Richter (27:15.3/92nd) and Ryan Pierson (27:17.7/99th) rounded out UWRF's top-100 finishers. Levi Miest (27:25.7/112th), John Fritts (28:42.3/198th), and Jordan Opsahl (29:03.5/212th) rounded out UWRF's top seven.

Next up, the UWRF cross country program will head to West Salem, Wis. to compete at the Jim Drews Invite on Oct. 19.
