OSHKOSH, Wis. — The UW-River Falls volleyball team fell 3-0 Friday evening at No. 6-ranked UW-Oshkosh during the regular season finale.
The Falcons' season ends with a 12-20 overall record and 1-6 conference ledger as the Titans improved to 25-4 overall and 6-1 in the league to clinch the WIAC regular season title.
While the Falcons were swept by the Titans, they didn't go down without a fight, doubling their kill total from set two compared to set three, totaling 16 in the final frame and eventually falling by a score of 25-23. UWO took the first two sets by scores of 25-16, 25-14.
Three Falcon kills in a row led to an early 4-1 UWRF lead in the final set, and the Falcons led until a 4-0 Titan run tied the set at 10-10. UWRF answered with a 4-0 run of their own to lead 14-10. A trio of lead changes followed with the home team ending up on top.
UWRF hit .080 compared to UWO's .223.
Lauren Noth led the Falcons with nine blocks while
Cora Sayotovich had 21 assists.
Audrey Petersen led the team with 14 digs.
