STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 4-2 Saturday night at the No. 7-ranked and top-seeded UW-Stevens Point Pointers.
The Pointers advanced to the WIAC Tournament Championship as the Falcons' season ends with a 16-10-3 overall record.Â
The Falcons and Pointers traded scoring totals through the first 40 minutes before the home team scored three goals in the third period to earn the win.
UWSP took a 1-0 lead after the first period before a
Matt Clark goal tied the game at 1-1 just over four minutes into the second frame.
The Pointers scored again early in the third, but the Falcons answered again with a
Burke Simpson power play goal, with help from
Dylan Smith. UWSP scored again at 12:11 of the third to take back the lead and scored an empty netter late to seal the win.
