RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The top ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team remained unbeaten Saturday night as they beat the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior 5-0.
The Falcons saw three goals in the first period. The first came from
Megan Goodreau at 1:47 and she was assisted on the goal by
MaKenna Aure. The Falcons second goal was a penalty shot goal.
Alex Hantge was tripped up in front of the goal and was given a penalty shot that she snuck past the Yellowjacket goaltender.
Maddie McCollins scored a final second power play goal to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead going into the first period intermission.
Hantge scored her second goal of the night at 9:17 in the second period.
Madison Kadrlik followed it up with a goal at 13:09.
The Falcons had 53 shots on goal. Securing the shutout win was
Jordan O'Connor with nine saves. UWRF was 2-for-5 on power play opportunities.
Up next for the Falcons is UW-Eau Claire in the final two games of the regular season. The Falcons host the Blugolds Wednesday evening with a puck drop at 7:05 pm.
