Cranston & McCollins Named Finalists for AHCA Coach, Player of the Year

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has announced the finalists for the 2023-24 Division III Women's CCM/AHCA Coach of the Year and Players of the Year, including UWRF's Joe Cranston and Maddie McCollins.

Cranston and McCollins, the WIAC Coach and Player of the Year, have led the top-seeded Falcons to a program record 29-0 season. UWRF is coming off a 2-1 win over Gustavus Adolphus in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, advancing to the "Frozen Four" for the sixth time in program history, the first since 2016.

McCollins is a Laura Hurd Award finalist for the second year in a row. The award is presented annually to the best NCAA Division III women's ice hockey player. Cranston is a three-time runner-up for the National Coach of the Year award.

A fifth-year senior forward from Maple Grove, Minn., McCollins is the nation's leading scorer with 62 points off 32 goals and 30 assists in 29 games played. She broke her own single-season goal scoring record this season after scoring 28 last year.

UWRF has two Laura Hurd Player of the Year award winners in program history, Callie Hoff (2022) and Dani Sibley (2017).

The winners of this year's Coach and Player of the Year awards will be announced on Thursday, March 14.
