RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's soccer team won 3-1 over Crown College during the program's first ever varsity game on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024 at Smith Stadium on Ramer Field.
Freshman forward
Landon Christiansen, a local product from Somerset, Wis., fittingly scored the first goal in program history, capitalizing on a breakaway opportunity off a clearance from teammate
Ben Harris.
Leading 1-0 heading into the second half, Christiansen followed up with a penalty kick goal at the 64th minute, and another almost 10 minutes later. Crown broke the shutout late in regulation.

While the shots were knotted at 15 apiece, UWRF led 8-6 in shots on target and 7-4 in corner kicks. A physical game led to eight total yellow cards.
Veteran goalkeeper
Carson Galla, a graduate student transfer from Lakeland University, made the start in net and totaled five saves. He was relieved in the second half by
Alvaro Boned.
