RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The UW-River Falls men's soccer team lost 3-0 to the St. Olaf Oles on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at Ramer Soccer Stadium. St. Olaf entered the game ranked No. 1 in the Division III men's college soccer rankings.
In the first half, St. Olaf struck the back of the net twice within the first 10 minutes, with goals by Caspar Olseth and Shea Bechtel. Olseth scored a header off a corner kick, while Bechtel scored off assists from Lucas Montero and Clemente Arcuch Puig. In the 23rd minute, Abdirasak Bulale added a goal to give the Oles a 3-0 lead, an advantage that held until halftime.
The second half saw the score remain at 3-0 through the final 45 minutes of play. Falcon freshman goalkeeper Alvaro Boned played the second half, recording five saves and keeping the Oles off the board.The defeat against St. Olaf is the first loss for the UWRF men's soccer program, after defeating Crown College 3-1 in the program's inaugural game on Aug. 30.
Up next, the Falcons return to Ramer Soccer Stadium to host Carleton on Sept. 11 at 5 p.m.
