RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Men's Soccer team lost to Carleton, 3-0, at Ramer Soccer Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The loss dropped the Falcons' regard to 1-2 through three games of the program's inaugural season.
In the first half, the Knights took control of the game early with a sixth-minute goal by Briggs Priem, after a corner kick resulted in a goal. Just before halftime, Carleton's Jeremiah Lanzillo scored off an assist from Dylan Fox-Arnold in the 41st minute to put the Falcons down 2-0 heading into halftime. Despite the first-half deficit, UWRF held a 7-6 advantage in shots after the first 45 minutes.
The second half saw a sizable increase in shots by Carleton, as the Knights eventually added a third goal to defeat the Falcons 3-0. Carleton totaled 19 shots in the second half, while UWRF totaled six. The Knights added their third goal of the match in the 81st minute, when Owen Flanagan scored off assists from Dylan Stiffler and Hays Turner.
Overall, the Falcons finished with 13 total shots, five of which were shots on goal. Ashton Musgrave, Sorel Richardson, and Landon Christiansen led the way with three shots each, while Gabriel Abad Lobo added a shot on goal, along with Colin Leech and Kellen Richardson off the bench. In goal in the second half, Alvaro Boned recorded four saves.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Madison, Wis. to face Edgewood on Sept. 14 in what is the program's first ever road match. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
