Men’s Soccer defeated at home by Bethel

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The UW-River Falls men's soccer team lost in its home match against Bethel, 2-0, at Ramer Soccer Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

The loss for the Falcons dropped the team's record to 2-5 on the season. UWRF totaled 14 shots on the night and held a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net in the loss.

After a quiet first half in which neither team received any cards and Bethel held a 9-5 advantage in shots, the Royals captured a 1-0 lead by the conclusion of first 45 minutes of play. Dylan Magistad scored a goal that was assisted off a free kick from Nathan Hunt.

In the second half, the Falcons managed several chances for goals and held a 9-7 advantage in shots. After a late corner kick in which UWRF pulled the goalkeeper, Bethel gained possession and managed an open-net goal by James Oberholtzer with just 15 seconds remaining in the game to build an insurmountable 2-0 lead.

Freshman Landon Christiansen led the Falcons with four shot attempts, while Ben Harris, Colin Leech, and Victor Vancauteren each totaled two shots. In goal, Alvaro Boned recorded three saves.

Up next, the Falcons return to Ramer Soccer to host UW-Stevens Point at 3 p.m. on Sept. 28. Tickets can be purchased online here.
