The No. 2-ranked UWRF women's hockey team is set to host a WIAC home series against Northland College Jan. 24-25 at Hunt Arena.

NATIONAL GIRLS & WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY

  • UW-River Falls Athletics will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Saturday, Jan. 25 with a women's hockey and women's basketball doubleheader.
  • National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is an annual day of celebration co-founded by the Women's Sports Foundation to honor the achievements of girls and women in sports and to acknowledge the power of sports to unlock limitless potential.
  • Admission is FREE for all youth ages 17 & under.
  • UWRF women's hockey will be available postgame to sign team posters.

FALCON NOTES

  • The Falcons are ranked No. 2 in this week's USCHO and DIII Hockey News Division III national polls.
  • UWRF is coming off a weekend sweep over UW-Superior Jan. 17-18, outscoring the Yellowjackets 13-4.
    • Bailey Olson led the Falcons with five goals, including four on Friday to tie a UWRF single-game record, and was named the WIAC Player of the Week. It marked the second-straight home game in which a Falcon scored four goals, matching Madison Kadrlik's four-goal game last Thursday, Jan. 9 versus St. Catherine University. 
  • The Falcons are the top scoring team in DIII with 5.8 goals per game, leading the nation with 100 goals and 256 points as a team, along with the second-best scoring margin at 3.76.
  • Megan Goodreau and Katherine Bell rank atop the national leaders in scoring, with Goodreau as the top scorer with 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists), and Bell as the leading goal scorer with 18.
