RIVER FALLS, Wis. — The No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team defeated Northland College 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena.
The Falcons, now 15-2-2 overall and 7-0-1 during WIAC competition, carries their eight-game winning streak into a matchup against nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Hunt Arena.
UWRF used a pair of goals in the first and six more in the second to cruise to victory. Seven Falcons found the back of the net, led by a four-point game with two goals and two assists from
Bailey Olson. With her four points, Olson exceeded 100 points in her career. She becomes the second Falcon to reach the 100-point mark in their careers this season, following
Megan Goodreau.
The red & white limited the Lumberjills to three shots on goal as Northland scored its sole goal of the weekend in the first period, trimming the UWRF lead to 2-1 after one period. The Falcons responded with six unanswered goals, all in the second period.
Outside of Olson's two goals,
Payton Hixson,
Kailey Niccum, Goodreau,
MaKenna Aure,
Kylie Jones, and
Madison Kadrlik scored UWRF goals. Aure scored on the power play as the Falcons went 1-for-1 on the man advantage.
Allisen Carothers had a career-high three assists.
