Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Central on the Road

PELLA, Iowa – The UW-River Falls volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference match to Central College on Saturday, Oct. 11 at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. The Falcons (10-12, 0-3 WIAC) fell to the Dutch (15-6, 1-1 American Rivers) with set scores of 22-25, 20-25, and 14-25.

The first set saw River Falls battle to a 20-20 tie, driven by solid serving, but Central pulled away with a 5-2 run to win 25-22. In the second set, the Falcons stayed competitive through 20, leaning on strong defense, yet the Dutch surged with a 7-2 rally to take it 25-20. The third set proved toughest, with Central jumping to a 12-4 lead, capitalizing on Falcon errors for a 25-14 finish.

Individually, Lauren Noth led the offense with six kills on .130 hitting (23 attempts), adding one ace and four digs. Emily Brenner contributed three kills, while Ellie Mascotti anchored the setting with 10 assists, one kill, one ace, and 10 digs. Audrey Petersen excelled defensively with a team-high 22 digs, paired with three assists and one kill. The Falcons totaled 28 kills, 24 assists, five aces, and 50 digs but couldn't overcome Central's 47 kills and .244 hitting percentage.

UWRF will look to rebound against UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 15 at home to continue WIAC competition.
