STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The UW-River Falls football team improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in WIAC play with a 52–7 win over UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon at Goerke Field. The Falcons put together a complete effort on both sides of the ball, scoring in every quarter and holding the Pointers to 262 total yards.
UW-River Falls compiled 648 yards of total offense, including 341 passing and 307 rushing, with 35 total first downs.
- Quarterback Kaleb Blaha led the offense with 287 passing yards and two touchdowns, adding 101 rushing yards and a rushing score.
- Cade Fitzgerald totaled 117 rushing yards, with one rushing touchdown, and connected with Jake Barnard on a 23-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
- Daniel Stokes paced the receiving corps with seven catches for 74 yards and a touchdown, while Ben Wesolowski added 49 yards on four receptions.
- Kicker Justin Scheebert went 7-for-7 on extra points and added a 36-yard field goal in the final quarter.
The Falcon defense was equally effective, forcing three turnovers and limiting UWSP to just 50 yards on the ground.
- Noah Nusbaum, Jared Schultz and Trent Cherry each recorded an interception.
- Gage Timm led UWRF with seven total tackles and 1.5 TFL's, while the defense finished with eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and five quarterback hurries.
UW-River Falls led 7-0 after the first quarter, extended its advantage to 21-7 at halftime, and broke the game open with a 21-point third quarter to take a 42-7 lead. The Falcons added 10 more points in the fourth quarter to close out the 52-7 victory.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday, Oct. 25, traveling to Eau Claire, Wis., to take on the Blugolds in WIAC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Simpson Field.
