RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls volleyball team picked up its first WIAC win of the season, defeating UW-Stout 3-1 Wednesday evening at Page Arena.
The Falcons, recording their fourth win in a row, improved to 14-14 overall and 1-5 in the WIAC while snapping the Blue Devils' three-game win streak.
After cruising through the opening two sets 25-17, 25-21, the Falcons battled through a tight third frame that featured seven ties before Stout held on to win 25-23. UWRF regrouped very quickly however, dominating the fourth with a .250 team hitting percentage and holding the Blue Devils to .000 to seal the match. The Falcons led by as many as 20-6 in the final frame, including a six-point run to lead 16-5, eventually closing out the set 25-13.
Blessing Adebisi and
Reese Bauman powered the Falcon offense with 16 kills each while Adebisi hit .500 and Bauman .452. The pair also combined for eight blocks, including six from Adebisi. Setter
Cora Sayotovich dished out 33 assists while
Audrey Petersen had 28 digs, eclipsling 1,000 in her career.
As a team, UWRF outhit UW-Stout .223 to .136, finishing with 62 kills, 82 digs, and eight total blocks.
UWRF closes out its regular season home schedule next Wednesday, Nov. 5 versus Hamline University on Senior Night.
