MENOMONIE, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Track & Field Program continued its indoor season with a competitive showing at the Warren Bowlus Open, hosted by UW-Stout on Saturday, Feb. 1.
On the men's side, distance runners Logan Munson and Tyler Parker finished among the top 10 of 42 runners, with Munson placing third with a time of 1:56.12. The 4x400-meter relay team of Cooper Hennemann, Tyler Parker, Logan Munson, and Javin Mungai took fifth of 14 teams with a season-best time of 3:33.05. The squad of Jacob Balcome, Myles Rasmussen, Trever Jensen, and Levi Miest narrowly trailed behind at 3:33.24.
In the men's high jump, Zane Habisch set a personal record at 1.96 meters (6'5") to finish in third of 17 athletes. More PRs were set in the pole vault by Jacob Balcome and Cole Darling at 4.46 meters (14'7.5"). Balcome also had a runner-up finish in the long jump at 6.53 meters.
Notable finishes on the women's side included a runner-up finishes Emma Gudahl and and Lauryn Schutz, along with several other top five marks. Schutz' throwing teammates shined in the shot put, with four Falcons placing in the top eight of 37 throwers (Schutz, Georgia Mundt, Alexis Koch, and Ali Clifford).
In addition, the women's 4x400-meter relay team of Greta Lauer, Cailyn Kuechle, Issabella Jeurissen, and Aly Jeurissen had a season-best time of 4:21.19.
Up next, the Falcons will return to River Falls to host their annual home meet, the UWRF Winter Classic. The event, which will be held at Robert P. Knowles Field House, is set to take place during the day on Feb. 8.
