STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The No. 2-ranked UWRF women's hockey team defeated UW-Stevens Point 9-3 Saturday afternoon to clinch the 2025 WIAC regular season championship.
The Falcons, now 19-3-2 overall and 10-0-1 during conference play, clinched the No. 1 seed for the WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament and the regular season crown for the fifth season in a row and 11th overall.
UWRF used a strong start and kept the pedal on the gas throughout the contest, led by
Bailey Olson's second hat-trick of the season.
Kailey Niccum followed by two goals while her sister
Alexa Niccum had four assists along with three assists from
Kaitlyn Ronn.
It took just seven minutes into regulation for the Falcons to gain a 3-0 lead, with goals from
Madison Kadrlik,
Madison Lavergne, and
Bailey Olson on the power play.
Kailey Niccum added another late in the period, and UWRF led by four goals heading into the first intermission.
The Falcons added three more goals in the second period (Olson and Niccum's second of the game along with one from
Kylie Jones) before UWSP broke the shutout near the midway point of regulation. Olson completed her hat-trick in the third period while
Kennedi Bielenberg-Howarth scored to push UWRF's goal total to nine.
Jordan O'Kane,
Olivia Hansen, and
Anna Rader each played a period in net, combining for 13 saves. O'Kane made the start and earned the win, her 12th of the season.
UWRF closes out the regular season at home next Saturday, Feb. 22, hosting UW-Eau Claire during Senior Day at Hunt Arena.
