Top-ranked Falcons host Blugolds in regular season finale

The No. 1-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey team hosts No. 12-ranked UW-Eau Claire this Saturday, Feb. 22 during the regular season finale and Senior Day at Hunt Arena.

SENIOR DAY

  • On Saturday, the Falcons will honor their 2024-25 senior class of Kenzie Dunn, Allisen Carothers, Bailey Olson, Ellie Brice, and Brooke Lemke. 
  • Since the 2021-22 season, this senior class has led the Falcons to an overall record of 101-9-3 with a 40-2-3 record during conference play, including four consecutive WIAC regular season championships and three WIAC O'Brien Cup titles. In addition, they helped lead UWRF to the program's first national championship last season and were catalysts in the Falcons' NCAA record-breaking unbeaten streak of 40 games, spanning from March of 2023 to December of 2024.

AGAINST THE BLUGOLDS

  • Saturday's game marks the 93rd all-time meeting the UW-River Falls and UW-Eau Claire, with UWRF maintaining a 64-17-11 series advantage.
  • The Falcons have won seven-straight over the Blugolds, including 5-0 and 9-2 wins this season.
  • Most recently, UWRF prevailed 9-2 in Eau Claire on Feb. 8, the Falcons' most goals against the Blugolds since 2001. Madison Kadrlik led the team with her third hat-trick of the season.

FALCON NOTES

  • The Falcons reclaimed the No. 1 ranking in the latest USCHO and DIII Hockey News national polls.
  • UWRF is coming off a 9-3 win at UW-Stevens Point last Saturday, clinching the program's fifth consecutive WIAC regular season championship, and the No. 1 seed for the WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament. 
    • Bailey Olson led the Falcons with her second hat-trick of the season, and was named the WIAC Kwik Trip Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week, her second of the season.
  • The Falcons are ranked first in NCAA Division III in scoring (6.1 goals per game, 147 goals), team points (374), and assists (227).
    • Their +4.08 scoring margin also ranks second while the 21 power play goals ranks sixth and the 29.6% power play success rate ranks fourth.
  • Individually, senior forward Bailey Olson is the DIII leading scorer with 44 points off 21 goals and 23 assists. Megan Goodreau ranks third with 39 points (17g-22a).
