Falcons wrap up regular season at Snowshoe Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The UW-River Falls Track & Field program concluded its 2024-25 indoor track regular season at the Snowshoe Open at the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 21.

The Falcons will now transition to the WIAC Indoor Championships, which will take place in Stevens Point, Wis. on Feb. 28 - March 1.

TRACK EVENTS

  • Logan Munson won the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:56.34. On the women's side, Cailyn Kuechle set a new career-best with a time of 2:18.48, which ranks fourth in the UWRF record book.
  • Trever Jensen set a new career-best mark in the 60 meters, clocking in at 7.04 to place ninth overall. The time now ranks tied for fifth all-time at UWRF. Jensen also placed fourth in the men's 200 meters at 22.90, a new career-best time that moved up to sixth all-time in the program record book.
  • In the women's 200 meters, Haylie Rasmussen placed sixth with a career-best time of 26.83.
  • Jaidyn McAlpine (5:19.34) and Peyton Opsahl (5:33.10) both set new career bests in the mile. McAlpine placed fifth and Opsahl finished 10th.
  • UWRF's women's 4x400 relay team placed fourth with a time of 4:18.74, a season-best time. On the men's side, UWRF placed fourth with a time of 3:30.78.

FIELD EVENTS

  • Lauryn Schutz moved up to second all-time in women's weight throw in the UWRF record book, throwing a career-best mark of 16.04 meters (52-07.5). Alexis Koch placed 10th with a career-best throw of 14.50 meters (47-07).
  • Jacob Balcome finished as the runner up in the men's pole vault, leaping 4.57 meters (15-0). Cole Darling placed fifth with a jump of 4.27 meters (14-0) and Noah Schneider placed sixth at 4.12 meters (13-06.25).
  • Yaih Marial placed fifth in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.85 meters. Zane Habisch and Parker Woodland tied for eighth.
  • Haylie Rasmussen placed seventh in the women's long jump with a career-best mark of 5.22 meters (17-01.5). Brielle Kuechle was just behind in eighth with a leap of 5.20 meters (17-00.75).
  • Annika Gunderson placed fifth in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.74 meters (12-03.25). Kalli Jo Klocke placed eighth with a leap of 3.44 meters (11-03.5).
  • Lauryn Schutz (12.40 meters/40-08.25) placed sixth in the women's shot put and Alexis Koch (12.25 meters/40-02.25) placed seventh
  • Makaiah Kempe led the way in women's triple jump with a leap of 10.14 meters (33-03.25) to place seventh. Kateley Schlicht placed eighth at 9.86 meters (32-04.25).
  • Brielle Kuechle placed seventh in the women's high jump at 1.50 meters (4-11).
