STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The UW-River Falls Track & Field program concluded Day 2 of the 2025 WIAC Indoor Championships in Stevens Point on Saturday, with Jacob Balcome's gold medal in heptathlon highlighting the day's performances.
Balcome's score of 5,208 points is a new program record, and marked UWRF's first ever WIAC champion in the event. Distance runner Logan Munson also brought home All-WIAC honors in the 800 meters, bringing UWRF's total to three athletes after Annika Gunderson placed third in the women's pole vault yesterday.
As a team, the Falcons placed seventh on the women's side with 21 points and eighth on the men's side with 23 points.
MULTIS
- Jacob Balcome finished the men's heptathlon in first place overall, with 5,208 points.
- Balcome started off Day 2 of the WIAC Championships with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.51. The time is a new career best that ranks fifth all-time in the program record book.
- In the pole vault, he scored the highest mark of the field, clearing 4.51 meters (14-09.5). The first-place finish for Balcome put him within 111 points of first place heading into the final event.
- In the 1,000 meters, Balcome placed fourth overall with a time of 2:54.4 to secure 720 points to move up into first place in the combined standings of the heptathlon.
- Brielle Kuechle led the way for UWRF in the heptathlon, placing seventh with 3,276 points, which ranks third all time in the program record book.
- Kuechle placed second in the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at a new career-best time of 9.12. The mark ranks sixth all-time in UWRF's record book.
- Kuechle tied for second in the high jump, tying a career-best mark of 1.60 meters (5-03).
- In long jump, Kuechle placed third with a leap of 5.32 meters (17-05.5).
- Joe Guthrie placed sixth in the men's heptathlon with 4,716 points, which moved up to third overall in the UWRF record book.
- Guthrie's top finish of the day came in the 1,000 meters, which he won with a time of 2:45.70.
- Haylie Rasmussen placed ninth in the pentathlon with 3,157 points, which ranks seventh all-time in the program record book.
- Rasmussen's top finishes came in the high jump (6th/1.57m) and long jump (7th/5.13m).
TRACK
- In the men's 800 meters, Logan Munson took home an All-WIAC performance. Munson placed third overall with a time of 1:55.14.
- Cailyn Kuechle placed fourth overall in the women's 800 meters with a career-best time of 2:16.79, which ranks third in the UWRF record book.
FIELD
- Zane Habisch led the way for UWRF's high jumpers, placing ninth overall with a height of 1.95 meters (6-04.75).
- Makaiah Kempe placed 13th in the triple jump, leaping 10.64 meters (34-11).
