THE SERIES
- UW-River Falls and Elmira have met five times, with the Soaring Eagles leading the series 3-2. Last year, the Falcons and Soaring Eagles met in the National Championship game, with UWRF prevailing 4-1 at Hunt Arena to capture the program's first national title.
- The previous four matchups were all in the National Tournament Semifinals (2003, 2009, 2015, 2016).
- In 2016, the Falcons defeated Elmira 4-3 to advance to the program's first ever national championship game, eventually falling to Plattsburgh State.
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- Coming off the program's first National Championship last season, the Falcons will be making their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance, earning an at-large bid after winning both the 2025-25 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season and tournament titles. UWRF defeated UW-Eau Claire yesterday afternoon 4-1 to earn a sixth consecutive WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament title.
- The Falcons have reached the 'Frozen Four' six times in program history (2003, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2024) and own a 13-15 overall record, dating back to the program's first national tournament appearance in 2003.
FALCON NOTES
- The Falcons come into the NCAA Tournament ranked fourth in the NCAA Power Index, receiving the No. 4 seed in the bracket.
- UWRFÂ is the top scoring team in NCAA Division III, averaging 6.2 goals per game for a total of 174 goals.Â
- The Falcons' 33.3% power play is tied for first and the +4.4 scoring margin ranks second.
- Individually, senior forward Bailey Olson is the DIII leading scorer with 54 points off 25 goals and 29 assists, and was recently named a finalist for the AHCA Laura Hurd National Player of the Year.Â
- Along with Bailey Olson's WIAC Player of the Year Award, Kylie Jones was named the WIAC Newcomer of the Year and Joe Cranston was named the Coach of the Year.
- During UWRF's current eight-game winning streak, goaltender Jordan O'Kane has made eight consecutive starts in net, accumulating a .934 save percentage and a 1.08 goals against average, including a pair of shutouts.
