UWRF Women's Hockey earns first-round bye into NCAA Tournament, will host Quarterfinal matchup on March 22

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Committee announced tonight the field of 12 teams that will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Hockey Championship, with UW-River Falls selected as an at-large bid while earning a first-round bye to host a quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 22.

The Falcons will host the winner of Plattsburgh State and Elmira College at Hunt Arena on Saturday, March 22 with a 3 p.m. puck drop.

Coming off the program's first National Championship last season, the Falcons will be making their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance, earning an at-large bid after winning both the 2025-25 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season and tournament titles. UWRF defeated UW-Eau Claire yesterday afternoon 4-1 to earn a sixth consecutive WIAC O'Brien Cup Tournament title.

The Falcons, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO and DIII Hockey News Division III Women's Hockey poll for several weeks, own 23-3-2 overall record and are the top scoring team in the country.

UW-River Falls is also slated to host the national semifinals and championship on March 28 & 30 at Hunt Arena. Fans can purchased tickets HERE.
