The UW-River Falls men's and women's track and field programs competed this weekend at the Drake Relays and Rider/Bolstorff Invitational, the teams' final regular-season meets before heading to the WIAC Championships on May 2 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
UWRF won both the men's and women's team competitions at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational, scoring 173 points on the men's side and 155.5 on the women's.
Drake Relays
- The Falcons sent Annika Gunderson and Yaih Marial to the 2025 Drake Relays, one of the most prestigious track and field events in the United States. Gunderson competed in the women's pole vault, university/college competition, while Marial competed in the university/college high jump. Marial cleared 1.98 meters (6-6) to place 14th.
Rider/Bolstorff Invitational
- Lauryn Schutz was the top thrower in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 48.95 meters (160-07), which ranks third in the Falcons record book.
- The Falcons saw success in the 800 meters, as Logan Munson and Tyler Parker went one-two on the men's side and Cailyn Kuechle and Adison Wilde took the top two placements on the women's side. Kuechle's time of 2:16.17 is a new career best and ranks fourth all-time at UWRF.
- Abigail Biggs and Kalli Jo Klocke took the top two placements in the women's pole vault, with Biggs' mark of 3.71 meters (12-02) ranking third in the UWRF record book. Klocke moved up to sixth in the record book with a score of 3.66 meters (12-0).
- Brielle Kuechle placed first in both the women's 100-meter hurdles and the women's long jump, while finishing runner up in the high jump. Her mark of 5.43 meters (17-09.75) in the long jump ranks eighth in the UWRF record book.
- In men's high jump, Zane Habisch won with a height of 1.90 meters (6-02.75) and Parker Woodland was the runner up at 1.85 meters (6-00.75).
- In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Jaidyn McAlpine placed second with a career-best time of 11:32.10. The time ranks third in the UWRF record book. On the men's side, Levi Miest placed second with a career-best time of 9:55.67.
- Trever Jensen won the men's 100 meters and placed second in the 200. Jensen clocked in at 10.77 in the 100 and 22.08 in the 200.
- Cooper Hennemann was the runner up in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.76. He also placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at 59.41.
- In men's pole vault, Jacob Balcome placed second with a height of 4.55 meters (14-11) and Joel Alexander finished third at 4.40 meters (14-05.25) — Balcome's height ranks seventh in the UWRF record book.
- Alexander also finished well in the men's triple jump, winning with a mark of 13.62 meters (44-08.25).
- In the men's discus throw, Charles Baker placed second with a mark of 43.92 meters (144-01).
- Wyatt Johnson placed second in the men's 1,500 meters at 4:08.71. On the women's side, Laina Viere placed fifth with a time of 4:54.5.
- In the women's 5,000 meters, Emma Karnitz placed second at a time of 18:48.36.
- Haylie Rasmussen was the runner up in the women's long jump, recording a jump of 5.30 meters (17-04.75).Â
