PRESCOTT, Wis. — The UW-River Falls men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2025 season on Friday, Sept. 12, hosting the third annual River Town Invitational Invite in Prescott, Wis. at Prescott High School.
The Falcons scored 46 points to place second in the men's 8k team scores, while the women's team placed third in the team standings with 59 points. UW-Oshkosh took home the men's team title with 18 points while the University of Minnesota Duluth won the women's race with 22 points.
On the men's side, four Falcons place inside the top 10 among 88 total runners. Sophomore Jack Richter was UWRF's top finisher with an 8k time of 26:42.4, the second-fastest time of his career to finish in fourth place. Ryan Pierson followed two spots behind with a time of 26:49.8, and Wyatt Johnson clocked a time of 27:03.4 to finish ninth.
Logan Munson (11th, 27:13.1), Alex Pazdernik (17th, 27:43.6), Myles Rasmussen (20th, 27:57.3), and Levi Miest (22nd, 27:59.2) rounded the top seven finishers for UWRF.
In the women's 6k, the Falcons were led by sophomore Adison Wilde, who placed sixth with a time of 23:37.3, nearly half a minute faster then her River Town Invite time from last season. Laina Viere finished 11th with a time of 24:22.6, followed by Jalyssa Groskreutz and Issabella Jeurissen who were neck-and-neck with time of 25:20.6 and 25:22.4 to finish 15th and 16th, respectively.
Emma Karnitz (21st, 25:35.8), Peyton Opsahl (23rd, 25:43.6), and Amber Lawrence (27th, 26:02.3) book ended UWRF's top seven finishers among a total of 69 women's runners.
Up next, the Falcons are set to compete in the UW-Oshkosh Fall Classic on Sept. 19 in Oshkosh, Wis.
