Volleyball Closes Dubuque Invite with Victories Over Wartburg and Saint Mary's

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The UW-River Falls volleyball team bounced back on the final day of the Dubuque Invite, securing a five-set win over Wartburg and a 3-1 victory against Saint Mary's (Minn.) on Saturday, improving to 5-6 overall.

The Falcons battled against Wartburg in five sets (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 16-14) at the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.

UWRF overcame a back-and-forth match, hitting .133 overall while holding Wartburg to .106. The Falcons took the first two sets but dropped the next two before clinching the fifth set 16-14.

Reese Bauman led with 14 kills, while Emily Brenner and Blessing Adebisi each added 10 kills. Adebisi controlled the net with seven blocks, and Olivia Noble dished out 41 assists with 14 digs. Audrey Petersen anchored the defense with 21 digs. For Wartburg, Kaylee Koudelka had 15 kills, and Peyton Robinson tallied 27 digs.

UW-River Falls 3, Saint Mary's 1
UWRF followed with a 3-1 victory over Saint Mary's (25-11, 15-25, 25-19, 25-18).

The Falcons took the first set but dropped the second before rallying to win the final two. UWRF hit .183 and limited Saint Mary's to .066, outdigging the Cardinals 77-63.

Kelsey Klesner paced the offense with 13 kills, Amanda Baumann added eight, and Ada Schlenker contributed seven. Reese Bauman led with six blocks, and Olivia Noble recorded 37 assists and 13 digs. Audrey Petersen had 17 digs, and Lauren Noth added 14 digs and seven kills. For Saint Mary's, Brenna Bruchert led with 11 kills.

The Falcons open WIAC play on the road against UW-Stevens Point on Friday, September 19, at 7 pm in Stevens Point.
